MOLDING SYSTEM HAVING AN ADJUSTABLE MOLD SHUT HEIGHT

An injection mold (1100) including first and second mold halves (1222, 1223), which are supported and movable relative to each other and have a mold shut height when the mold is an operational configuration. The mold (1100) includes a cavity plate adjustment mechanism (2000) and/or a core plate adjustment mechanism (3000) each integrated with and embedded within one of the mold halves. Each adjustment mechanism (2000, 3000) includes an adjustment device (2001, 3001) at least partially received in a recess in an outward surface of a cavity or core plate (1110, 1103) of the relevant mold half (1223, 1222) and has an engagement portion (2008, 3008) with an engagement surface (2023, 3023). Each adjustment device (2001, 3001) is operable to move from a retracted position to an extended position, in which the engagement surface (2023, 3023) provides for an increased distance between the cavity or core plate (1110, 1103) and a stripper plate (1117) to adjust the mold shut height.
