Hot runner system from HRSflow for Class A vehicle windows made of polycarbonate

HRSFlow has supplied its FLEXflow valve gate hot runner system to Chinese car parts maker Shentong, for its work making the largest polycarbonate rear-windows in the car market.

The Buick GL8 and Buick Avenir mini-vans have an injection moulded rear-quarter panes from polycarbonate. The supplier Shentong uses HRSFlow systems to make the transparent first components, and another hot runner to over-mould with a dark polycarbonate on the edges. With dimensions of 1,200 mm x 460 mm, it is currently the world's largest car pane moulding.

FLEXflow ensures the windows, around 40 per cent lighter than glass, fit with minimum warpage and tight tolerances.

The main applications of FLEXflow technology are the injection moulding of high-quality complex automotive parts including large-area exterior and interior components such as spoilers, front ends, instrument panel supports, door trim and headlights.
