SPE event to focus on part design

The Society of Plastics Engineers’ Product Design and Development Division has created a technical conference, “Successful Plastic Part Design” scheduled for March 6-7 in Gurnee, Ill.

The conference will focus on design of injection molded parts and 3D printing.

SPE’s Product Design and Development Division, known as PD3, organized the conference together with SPE’s Chicago and Milwaukee Sections,

Consultants John Bozelli and Michael Sepe will lead a series of in-depth discussions addressing all aspects of designing for injection molding. Bozelli specializes on practical, hands-on injection molding training and troubleshooting. Sepe assists clients with material selection, design for manufacturabilioty manufacturability, process optimization, troubleshooting and failure analysis.

In addition to seven sessions on injection molding, there will be four on 3D printing, by other speakers:

• Simulation Driven Design for 3D Printing by Scott Ziemba of Altair Engineering Inc.

• Additive Manufacturing with Polymers: Beyond the Prototype, by Duann Scott of Autodesk Inc.

• Production Using 3D Printing, by Mike Roosa of Midwest Prototyping LLC.

• Design for Manufacturing for Additive Manufacturing, by David Tucker of HP Inc.
