Barnes Group at NPE 2018 - Six injection moulding specialists together for the first time

At NPE2018, all six Molding Solutions companies of Barnes Group will exhibit togetherfor the first time. Barnes Molding Solutions delivers highly engineered, customproducts and solutions through innovation and customer collaboration. A unifieddisplay will allow customers to interact with technologies from all six companiesin one location. Every hour, Molding Solutions will also host a presentationaccompanied by a live injection moulding demonstration that will highlightactive balancing for perfect parts with Barnes Molding Solutions technology.

The BarnesMolding Solutions strategic business unit has integrated companies from aroundthe globe known for manufacturing excellence and world-class service. Thisglobal reach has given each company the ability to expand their customer basein regions and markets that were not easily accessible or serviceable in thepast, increase sharing of best practices, and accelerate the scale ofproduction that would not be possible autonomously. Several of the BarnesMolding Solutions company collaborations will be showcased at NPE.

Synventive: new synflow technology

synflowtechnologies help moulders eliminate cosmetic defects on sequentially filledparts. This next generation synflow brings more advanced features, which allowmoulders to quickly and easily define the complete moulding parameters for aspecific application.

The mostsignificant difference between this new technology and other pin controltechnologies currently on the market is its ability to easily upgrade tosynflow after initial mould trials. All Synventive valve gated hot runners cancome standard with SVG+, which includes position sensors that allow for thesimple upgrade path to synflow.

Thermoplay: mini valve gate nozzles for small partsinjection

Thermoplaywill be highlighting their newly expanded small nozzle series featuring themini valve gate mini nozzle, with diameter of 11 mm. Designed to meet theincreasing requirements of special applications in cosmetic, medical, andpackaging markets, the nozzle features a small pitch and is now available forvalve gate applications. The single plate actuation technology allows to reducefurther the distance between the cavities of the mould and provide reliable andoptimal movement.

Männer: new Slimline nozzles and moldMind II

männer’snew technologies allow moulders to monitor and analyze key parameters in theinjection process.

männer Slimlinenozzle for caps and closures now offers a new specialized solution for valvegating with the highest gate quality. This new nozzle is specially designed forpolyolefin applications (PP, HDPE) with limited space. Therefore, with itssmall diameter of 6.5 mm, the new Slimline caps and closure nozzle enables themouldmaker to gate parts with limited space to the gate.

moldMind IIis the digital cockpit for your mould. männer’s smart device is a tamper-proofinstrument for mould owners, injection moulders, and mouldmakers that can beused to monitor and analyze key parameters in the production process.

Foboha: latest cube moulding technology

Foboha ispresenting the latest developments in injection moud and cube mouldingtechnology. As a solutions provider, Foboha experts will advise and supportcustomers throughout the entire development and production process - from the initialidea for the plastic product, through its codevelopment, to theindustrialization.

The purposeof the early involvement activities is to develop and provide solutions toproduce premium plastic products, which satisfy the highest market requirementsand quality demands.

Priamus: innovative systems for quality assurancein injection moulding

Priamusplans to show their lineup of systems that increase precision and efficiency ina customer’s moulding process.

QualityMonitor serves as a simple, reliable and industrial monitoring device for theinjection moulding process based on real process parameters. The system comesas a package including the QScreenTM display and can be operated with anydesired web browser-supported display. Due to the integrated OPC-UA interface, the Quality Monitor is the ideal IoT platform and provides all options totransfer real quality data to a local or cloud server.

Cavity-pressuresensors with angled connectors are available for all standard cavity- pressuresensors with automatic sensitivity detection. Priamus has designed aside-outlet connecting cable which requires much less space for installation -allowing the sensor to be installed even in much tighter conditions.

Morefrequently, mould inserts are not exactly fitted but installed floating with agenerous tolerance. As such, floating sensor disconnects for floating mouldinserts are the basis for standardization in mould making. For this purpose,Priamus has developed a new disconnect system for cavity-pressure andcavity-temperature sensors which automatically compensates the lateraldisplacement of the insert.

Gammaflux: temperature control systems

GammafluxControls will be exhibiting the latest G24 and LEC lines of controllers. TheLEC will be shown in 2, 6, and 12 zone configurations. The G24 will be shown asa standalone controller, a hot runner temperature controller with an integratedSequential Valve Gate Controller (SVGC).

The BarnesMolding Solutions display will show the G24-SVGC in a mini version controllingpins on a Synventive Hot Runner, as well as the G24-mini together with aPriamus-sensored mold supplied by Männer.

Additionally,G24’s will be in use at Sumitomo-Demag and at Wittmann-Battendfeld.
