RL Hudson acquires injection mold manufacturer Rapid Production Tooling

RL Hudson (Tulsa, OK) announced that it has completed the acquisition of injection mold manufacturer Rapid Production Tooling Inc. (Berthoud, CO).

Rapid Production Tooling was founded in 1997 by three talented, visionary journeyman toolmakers, said RL Hudson in its release. Today, Rapid is a full-service mold manufacturing company that offers everything from design and build to process development in a state-of-the-art mold qualification and process validation facility with presses in-house ranging from 40 to 300 tons. Rapid employs 38 people; according to RL Hudson, management will remain in place.

RL Hudson was founded in 1980 by Rick Hudson, whose passion for rubber chemistry and rubber and plastic molding technology focused on the need for specialized rubber, sealing and plastic product development for numerous markets and industries. Recognizing the growing demand for technically sophisticated production-intense parts, the company built new facilities and launched in-house manufacturing and assembly capabilities for plastic injection molding and tooling.

RL Hudson has manufacturing capabilities ranging in size from 85 to more than 500 tons and has just over 100 employees.

Providing affordable injection molding for prototypes, low-volume parts, bridge tooling and validation of production tooling is a primary focus of the initiative. Benefits to customers include cost reductions through design improvements, metal-to-plastic conversions, a wide range of machine sizes and quick turn-around on prototype and production parts by a professional design and engineering team.

RL Hudson provides these services for medium- to heavy-duty trucks including OEMs Navistar and Volvo; power sports and off-road recreational vehicles for Yamaha and Kawasaki; Indian motorcycles; snow-machines for OEMs Arctic Cat and Ski-doo; and more.

Future plans include expansion of the new manufacturing center and component assembly capabilities as well as an active search for additional growth opportunities.
