KraussMaffei expanding PX series production

On the back of “tremendous demand”,the KraussMaffei Group is increasing production capacity for its PX series of all-electric injection moulding machines. 

The Munich-based injection moulding machinery supplier said the series had been a “smashing success” since its launch at K 2016 two years ago in Dusseldorf, Germany.

"Our customers appreciate the high precision and flexibility in configuration, production and retrofitting," explained Hans Ulrich Golz, president of the injection moulding machinery segment at KraussMaffei.

In order to be able to meet demand for the machines, KraussMaffei's part production capacities were doubled for the PX series at the Sucany, Slovakia location, which is currently following a double-shift production schedule.

The company is also planning to produce the machines at its production plant in Munich.

In addition to the increased capacity, KraussMaffei has announced that it is acquiring Plamag GmbH in Plauen, Germany, which has been producing essential components for the new PX series since the middle of 2017 and overseeing the spare parts business.

The all-electric PX series is currently available in five different sizes in a clamping force range from 500 to 2,000 kN.

The company recently expanded the series with the new, tiny PX 25, which has only 250 kN clamping force, and the PX 320, which, with 3,200 kN of clamping force, is the company’s largest all-electric press to date.  The new machine sizes made their first public debut at KraussMaffei's Competence Forum event this year in June.

The planned launch for both the PX 25 and PX 320 machines is the 2018 Fakuma trade show, to be held 16-20 Oct, in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
