Auto supplier IAC Group to layoff 44 at facility in Dayton, Tennessee

International Automotive Components Group SA is permanently laying off 44 workers at its facility in Dayton, Tennessee, effective 5 Feb 2020.

A notice of the layoff was filed with the state 11 Dec as part of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

It is not clear whether the facility is shutting down permanently or what type of manufacturing operations are housed here. Emails and phone calls by Plastics News seeking additional comment from IAC Group representatives were not returned.

At the Tennessee facility, the company operates as IAC Dayton LLC. It is not the first time the Dayton plant has announced layoffs. In July 2017, 160 workers were permanently laid off, according to the WARN notice.

IAC Group is based in Luxembourg and has North American headquarters in Southfield, Mich. The automotive supplier makes interior door panels, instrument panels, headliners and consoles, among other components. It is the largest injection moulder in North America with nearly $1.6 billion in injection moulding sales for the region, according to Plastics News' most recent ranking.

Globally, the company employs approximately 22,000 and has 50 manufacturing facilities in 16 countries.
